Earlier this month IntelliFarms’ Chief Technical Officer, Don Schaefer, retired after years of service in the ag industry.
In 2006 Don partnered with Todd Sears to design, develop and bring BinManagerⓇ, IntelliFarms’ flagship product, to market. Don developed the patented BinManager technology. In 2011, Don worked to release a 2G cable and followed that up in 2012 with the only 3G cable capable of measuring both temperature and moisture.
During his years at IntelliFarms Don led several teams, sharing his knowledge, passion and love of problem solving with everyone around him. He led the Engineering team at IntelliFarms in hardware, software and firmware innovation. He also spearheaded research and new product development. In 2015, he led his team of developers of the FieldDataManager product to win an ASABE’s AE50 Award bestowed on the most innovative products in agricultural and biological sciences.
Prior to IntelliFarms, and his former partnering company, C2Ag, Don owned and operated Design Renew Electronics (1997-2007). He held several engineering and management positions at Harmon Industries (now GE Transportation Systems) from 1987 to 1997, including Director of R&D Engineering.
Don holds a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering degree from the University of Missouri Rolla, and a Master of Business Administration degree from the University of Missouri Kansas City.
Don’s talents, leadership and passion for excellence will be missed but he is leaving a talented, knowledgeable and dedicated team to keep innovating and bringing technology to the agriculture industry. In honor of Don’s dedication and impact over the years, IntelliFarms has renamed its headquarters building to the Don B. Schaefer Building. It is located on Main Street in Archie, MO and is the hub of activity for IntelliFarms.
Don you will be missed, thank you for all your hard work over the years.
